Mark King
Owner & President
Mark started Vino Veritas 20 years ago to bring individually crafted wines made by people, not commercial recipes or corporations, to Wisconsin. These artisan wines are what he fell in love with in California in the 1980s. At that time, it was still possible to meet the winemaker in their own tasting rooms or barrel rooms, to feel the excitement of their craft and their passion that they poured into your glass. Over the ensuing years, Mark had the opportunity to travel, live in France and try wines from all over the world. While living in New Jersey, he studied with Kevin Zraly and learned the retail side of wine from Chuck Russo.
When we moved our family to Wisconsin in 2000, with three small children, it was his opportunity to combine a lifelong passion for wine with the burgeoning market for family own artisan wines in Wisconsin. He started out doing everything – building vintner relationships, selling, delivering, collecting and regulatory filings.
Joined by Tom Loup in 2010, together they built the Vino Veritas portfolio into a global portfolio that represents authentic families and wines from fifteen countries.
Raised in Tempe, Arizona, Mark spent the first part of his career as an engineer with General Electric. He has an undergraduate degree in Nuclear Engineering from Arizona State and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
