The Chardigny estate is located in the commune of Leynes at the crossroads of Mâconnais and Beaujolais. The vines are cultivated by the three Chardigny brothers Pierre-Maxime, Jean-Baptiste and Victor-Emmanuel. It is therefore a family estate comprising vines that were passed down to them by their parents Catherine and Jean-Michel.
Catherine and Jean-Michel managed the farm for a long time as a sharecropper. At the same time, Jean-Michel, who trained as an oenologist, worked for 37 years at a bottling company. These responsibilities in bottling at the property took him to many vineyards ranging from Chablis to Narbonne, including the emblematic estates of Burgundy, Jura, Beaujolais, Savoie and the Rhone Valley.
During all these years, Catherine and Jean-Michel acquired the basics of estate management, winemaking and wine packaging.
The vines have been in the Chardigny family since the 18th century. Today the estate covers 20 hectares of vines, including 8 in Saint-Véran, 6 in Saint-Amour, 3 in Burgundy and 3 in Beaujolais-Villages.
