Shea Wine Cellars

Shea Wine Cellars

Shea Winery sits on a 100-acre piece of vineyard land in an untried area of the northern Willamette Valley, in what is now the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. Native New Yorkers, Dick and Deirdre Shea first discovered Oregon wine from a recommendation made in their local wine shop in the late 1980’s. They began as growers with the first plantings back in 1989, selling the fruit to other wineries. Their passion rubbed off and instilled a desire to produce world-class wines in addition to farming grapes.

One of the prominent vineyards in the country, Shea Vineyard makes wines for their eponymous label with 20% of the Pinot noir grapes and 33% of the Chardonnay grapes. The bulk of the fruit produced is sold to some of the finest winemakers in Oregon and California. Planted to vineyard in the late 1980’s, Shea Vineyard in the 2020’s is now a 280-acre property with 140 acres planted to Pinot Noir and 6 acres of Chardonnay.
