Trizanne Signature Wines

Trizanne Barnard was an adrenaline junkie growing up, but has since traded bridge jumping for the more tranquil hobbies of surfing and winemaking. After honing her winemaking skills internationally at places like Moss Wood in Margaret River, she helped launch Anwilka back home in South Africa, making grandiose red blends. Despite major praise from Robert Parker early on, Trizanne felt drawn back to her love of South Africa’s cooler climate, coastal terroir. In 2008, Trizanne Signature Wines was born, focusing on cool-climate whites from Elim and Syrahs from the Swartland. Her winemaking philosophy centers on varietal freshness, showcasing saline minerality and vibrant acidity thanks to earlier picking dates and the careful use of old oak. Her ocean-themed branding is a nod to the importance of surfing in her life. “Apart from how thrilling surfing is, it’s humbling. Surfing is where I lose all titles. When I’m in the ocean, I’m not a winemaker. I’m not a mother. I’m just present,” she says. “I don’t even see [surfing] next to my life. It’s just who I am.”
