The Dauny family belongs to a very old family of Sancerre wine growers, whose members have been growing grapes in this region since 1683. It was in the early 1960s that Lucien Dauny, following health problems, took care of himself using natural methods and discovered herbal medicine, homeopathy, and a few other alternative medicines. At that time the farm was a mixed farming operation, and in 1964 Lucien took the plunge and converted the entire farm to organic farming.
The first results did not live up to expectations, but Lucien persevered in his approach, and was rewarded a few years later. It was in 1975 that Lucien passed the torch to his newlywed son Christian and his wife Nicole. Nicole and Christian Dauny are the twelfth generation, now making wines with their sons Benoît and Thibaut, who joined the estate in 1999 and 2007 respectively. These are authentic, well-made wines made by lovely people.
